3 WEARABLE ROBOTIC ORGAN SCULPTURES IN INSTALLATION
by Amy Karle and Benjamin Julian
each approximately 4ft x 4ft x 4ft
2000
In 2000, Artists Amy Karle and Benjamin Julian created an interactive installation of 3 large robotic organs: a human heart that “beat”, a lung that “breathed”, and stomach and intestine that “churned”, each approximately 4ft x 4ft x 4ft. The sculptures were installed in a dark room and lit from within, the sound of the installation was the sound generated from the artwork. These pieces could be viewed on their own, or pulled down and worn over the body to experience the sensation of “beating”, “breathing” and “churning”.
